Charlotte Speaks at the UK Project on Nuclear Issues

On 16th September, Charlotte joined the UK Project on Nuclear Issues (UK PONI) Conference at RUSI on Whitehall, as a keynote speaker in my capacity as Chair of the Nuclear APPG.

Hot off the press is the Nuclear Industry Association annual Jobs Map 2026, showing a 67% increase in civil nuclear jobs in the UK over the last five years, taking the number to six figures for the first time and cementing Warrington’s place as a national and international centre of excellence in the sector.

With delegates from both the civil and defence sectors, as well as researchers on the cutting edge of science in the area between (such as those researching using americium-241, which is naturally formed over time through the beta decay of plutonium-241 in spent nuclear fuel and aging stockpiles, for space, deep sea and defence applications) and medical isotopes, it was a thoroughly interesting event with lots of conversations for the APPG to take forward this year.
