Charlotte Nichols visited the headquarters of European Metal Recycling (EMR) Group in Westbrook, where she met with CEO Chris Sheppard to discuss a range of topics including the UK steel strategy and critical material security.
Charlotte said: “It was great to catch up with Chris Sheppard, the CEO of EMR UK Metal Recycling – one of the leading metal recyclers, and one of the largest family-owned businesses in the country, at their headquarters in Westbrook.
Among the topics under discussion was the UK steel strategy, security for critical materials for British industry and infrastructure, research and innovation, their support for the Armed Forces Covenant and recent work with Veterans into Logistics, and supporting the circular economy as we head towards the budget.”
EMR processes and recycles 10 million tonnes of waste each year, transforming items such as drinks cans and oil platforms into more than 200 grades of new, sustainable raw materials.
