More children will soon have access to childcare through expanded nursery provision.
Brook Acre Community Primary School and Winwick CofE Primary School in Warrington North have been selected to receive funding for new school-based nurseries.
Part of the Government’s Best Start programme, these nurseries aim to reduce childcare costs and improve access for families.
Charlotte Nichols, MP for Warrington North, said:
“Cutting the cost of living for families in Warrington North is my priority as your MP.
“That’s why the news that childcare costs have halved under Labour is so welcome.
“This will save the average family £8,000 a year.
“There’s more we can do to make childcare more accessible and affordable.
“The new nurseries at Brook Acre Community Primary School and Winwick CofE Primary School will have a huge impact on children and parents.
“I look forward to visiting them to see the amazing work they are doing in the near future.”
Under Labour’s early years policies, eligible working parents are already benefitting from 30 hours of funded childcare.
The new nurseries are the latest addition to a growing network of school-based settings designed to help families manage work, reduce daily drop-offs, and cut costs.
The announcement is part of a wider government rollout, with more than 300 schools set to open or expand nurseries from September.
This follows the first phase of the programme, which is already delivering up to 7,000 places nationwide.
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said:
“Too many families still struggle to find affordable childcare close to home, making it harder for parents to balance work and family life.
“By expanding these nurseries further and targeting them at the areas that need them most, we are making sure more families can benefit from quality early education while putting practical support in place to help with the cost of living.
“This government was elected to change that – starting with giving every child the best start in life and making sure every family can actually access the childcare they need, wherever they live.”
Alongside the new nursery places, families in Warrington North can also benefit from free breakfast clubs and other cost-of-living measures.
