WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols is urging the owners of the CPS Centre at Culcheth to negotiate a way forward following a 28-day eviction notice on local traders.
Ms Nichols, who recently met with traders facing eviction from the CPS shopping Centre on “health and safety” grounds raised the situation at Prime Minister’s Questions yesterday, Wednesday.
She said: “The Fire Authority have been clear that there was, and I quote “nothing in the notice that would require people to be evicted” and the changes required to bring the building up to standard could be done with the tenants in situ.
“I continue to call on Shivat Haminim Capital and their legal representatives Landswood De Coy to meet with myself, traders and residents to negotiate a way forward that protects the livelihoods of these independent businesses and the amenities for the community. It is not too late to change course.”
Traders at the CPS Shopping Centre were rocked with the 28 day eviction notice served on them two weeks ago following claims the premises needed to close following a fire inspection, on health and safety grounds.
